Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get to keep the negatives?  Do you shoot in color or black and white? Or both?
Well, I'm all digital, so there are no negatives.  However, you will get a DVD filled with high-resolution images of all the pictures I take that day.

And not just what comes out of the camera - you'll get color and black & white versions of each image.  I will only edit out the obviously bad pictures (about 10-20%) leaving you with literally hundreds of pictures that thoroughly document your wedding day.  From the time you start getting ready... through the ceremony... to the reception.  You choose which photos are the most important to you, not me.

I use Photoshop to clean up the images.  Every single one gets individual attention on color-correction, contrast, exposure, and sharpening.  On some I may have to remove a distracting object.  As a bonus, a few appropriate images will get special effects (but you'll get the original, non-special effect versions, too).  All of this post-processing ensures you receive the best possible images of your wedding.

Do you remove red-eye, too?
Due to the equipment and methods, I have yet to get red-eye in any picture I take.  But if it were to happen by some fluke, of course I'd remove it.

How many pictures will you take?
I can't give you a set number because every wedding is different.  I average about 100 pictures an hour, so with 8 hours of shooting you'll get about 800 pictures.  Your mileage may vary.

What's your primary style?
Apart from the obligatory wedding party posed shots, I will mostly shoot candids.  I try to match my photography to your mood, so if you are playful and energetic so am I.  If you are up for some experimental, artsy, or goofy shots, I'm right there with you.  If you want to let loose my creativity and have me tell you what to do, I'll be happy to do that.  If you want to grab me at any time during the day to take a picture with somebody, I would only be too happy.  In short I am completely flexible.

What kind of input can we have on the direction of the shots? Can we give you a shot list to work from?
Absolutely!  Type up a checklist and give it to me.  Tell me as we go along.  Or let me shepherd everyone around.

Are you the person who will actually take our pictures?
Yes.  Your special day will not be farmed out to someone with less experience like some large photo companies may do.  I will take all the pictures.

How many other weddings will you also photograph that weekend?
None that same day.  Possibly one on the other weekend day.

What kind of equipment will you bring with you? How intrusive will lighting, tripods, etc. be?
Due to my style, I like to travel light.  I might be flitting around snapping pictures everywhere, but there will be no bulky equipment to get in the way.  At most I'll have a tripod setup.

What will you wear?
I typically wear all black dress shirt and slacks with an unassuming tie.  Wearing all black allows me to blend into the background better such that you and your guests will hardly realize I'm there.  This is Phoenix, however, and if you have an outdoor ceremony in unseasonably warm weather, I'll be wearing clothing of a much lighter color.

Are you available to shoot my wedding outside of the Phoenix area?
Probably.  There will be extra expenses depending on the distance probably including hotel, transportation, and food.  And obviously if I need to stay the night (nights?) then the entire weekend needs to be free on my calendar.

What equipment do you use?
Currently I have a Canon 20D body with image-stabilized lenses.  A Canon 10D is my backup.  These are digital cameras.  I shoot in RAW mode for the highest quality images with the maximum amount of post-processing leeway.

How Do I Book You?
Just give me a call at 602-570-6425.  Or you can email me at info@myphoenixweddingphotographer.com.  I require a $100 deposit to reserve the date, half of the payment 30 days before the wedding, the rest on the day of your wedding.  Of course you are welcome to pay as early as you want.
